About Us
The Senior Center is a town department. It was organized to develop a comprehensive network of in-home and community-based services and supportive programs for people sixty years of age and over in the Town of Cheshire.
We strive to:
- Advocate on behalf of the Cheshire seniors;
- Provide information, referral, outreach, nutrition and health education in cooperation with other town departments and area agencies;
- To identify unmet needs in the community and network with other social service agencies to fill those needs or create new programs to address those needs;
- To enhance the quality of life for seniors and the community by providing educational, informational, recreational, and cultural programs and activities.
The long-range goal of the Cheshire Council on Aging is to contact every senior in Cheshire and make them aware of services they or someone they know may be eligible to receive and hopefully improve their quality of life. In cases where the COA is unable to fill an unmet need, we will network with other agencies to try to meet that need. When there are no immediate collective services available, the COA will look into creating a new program to fill that need.
